Title and Font creating

 Title 

   For the title I want something connected to the story but not something so obvious. I was thinking "Eden" but that would be too obvious and not very captivating. The I thought of an inspiration off of the " Don't worry darling" title. The inspiration got me to " Don't stress, Eden" I thought It would be perfect for due to Eden having anxiety and that is where the stress word comes from. Although, I thought it would be to alike to " Don't worry, darling" 

     I kept on think and later came to an idea. The idea is to name the title would be the name of the town. I went on a random website and searched random town and world names. I found "The infernal land" I would cut it to "infernal". This would be perfect due to Infernal meaning the characteristics of hell or the under world. This adds to it due to the film being dystopian.

 Fonts 

    I was not sure what type of font to do. So, I went online and searched up a font generator. I was between "Ｉｎｆｅｒｎａｌ" and "𝐼𝓃𝒻𝑒𝓇𝓃𝒶𝓁". The first one looks fancy and pretty and the second is also fancy. Although when I looked at the first title it kind of looked like a horror film. So the official title is "𝐼𝓃𝒻𝑒𝓇𝓃𝒶𝓁".

More research

           I wanted to go more in depth for Eden, I wanted to make a moodboard for her to create outfits inspired by the moodboard.  In the mood board I have my actual room, which is the setting I will be filming in. The setting fits in with the theme and how perfect the world is. My room as seen on the moodboard is pastel and has no bold colors; this shows that her room is peaceful and calm.  

      

       In my room, I have a corner in my room that is a mini library. I thought that this would be perfect for a scene that I wanted to incorporate at the end. After the title, my plan is to show off a hint that it is a true dystopian ad not so perfect. This is to keep the film going and not just ending once. I want the ‘hint’ to be a book and that fits perfectly with the mini library. 

        How I am going to hint it is by Eden opening the book to a random page and seeing a black crossed out word. It will be insinuated that those are bad words and when she turns the book. The book will have something although it will not be shown and then it cuts to Eden’s expression and the screen turns black. This is not yet set in stone, I think I will make some changes to this idea. 

Edens mental illness:

  Eden has Anxiety. This mental illness can be very severe, she has this due to the stress of her trying to be perfect and the fact that everything around her is perfect does not help with the matter. 

  She will show this by her body language. IWIth the research I found, I think Edens’ body language will be fidgeting with her hands and her facial expression when she is nervous or stressed.

Group meeting

Yesterday, I had a group discussion with 5 people including me. It was extremely helpful, we shared our ideas to each other and what we need help on. They helped me decide what kind of mental illness Eden is going to have, which is anxiety. My peers also helped me decide if it was the world’s fault or her fault. In other words, I was thinking of Eden having psychosis and her hallucinating that everyone was perfect and she was the one messed up or the world was dystopian and actually looked perfect and it's not actually her fault. The final decision was that it would be the world’s fault. 

       I really enjoyed this discussion. It really helped me hear peoples opinions and point of view. I was very grateful about the constructive critiques given.

Schedule

      To move forward with the project, I have to create my schedule. Panning ahead and scheduling allows me to be organized and not procrastinate. My current fear is procrastinating and having to do double or triple the work I was supposed to do before. I will create the schedule to keep my thoughts on track.  

Week one: In this week, I talked about my initial approach. My plan on how to organize myself. I also mentioned how I will approach this project.

Week two: I started researching the types of genres I want to do and finally chose my genre. I figured out what kind of plot with my chosen genre. I also created my character "Eden"

Week three: This week I will organize my self by creating this schedule. I will go more in depth of researching Eden and how she will act along with the specific mental illness and the symptoms that she will have. I will also research the title and font for the movie.  I will also create a shot list which is naming the all the shots that will be used in the film to know how and why I am going to create the specific shots.

Week four: I will create a story board to visually guide me through the production process. I will also finally start the production process. I am very excited yet nervous for this week. This is when all my research and planning will be put to use.

Week five: I am planning to continue production. I will be most likely be making changes in the process by this week. 

Week six: By this week I will have most likely finished product and started on editing. 

Week seven: I will continue editing and reflect on the film. I will also create my CCR creation

Week eight: On the final week, I will publish my CCR and film.

This schedule is not set in stone. I made sure that the schedule was flexible and that I can get ahead of schedule or when I procrastinate a little bit I will be able to catch up and get back on track. 

I have also created a blogging schedule to make sure I am making updates on my blog. I created this on google doc as a self- reminder. I will highlight green as I complete the blog. I also made sure that that the blog schedule was flexible and I could post on later dates or earlier dates.

Character

      now that I know my plot, I will start creating my characters and setting. My setting I will discuss in my next post, but right now I wanna talk about my characters and how I am going to create them. I want to make the protagonist to be with pastel colors because these colors represent peace and calmness, this will show viewers that everything is perfect and serene. I will use dark colors such as dark red to symbolize danger. The items will be minor although the viewer can clearly see the item due to the setting being neutral my plan is when the protagonist is in her room she will be wearing dark colors to really show that She is hurting inside although when she is in place such a School, she is wearing perfect colors.

I got inspired by the color palette used in “Don’t worry, darling” this movie uses serene colors, such as how the protagonist is wearing a neutral lip gloss, and the other characters are using a a bright red lip lipstick. this shows that the other character is dangerous and that is proving to be correct later on in the movie. 

     I will name the girl Eden. This girl will be named Eden due to Eden meaning a paradise and there is a biblical definition that this was a place for Adam and Eve to live in, and it contented the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Plot research part 2

 Today, I researched more about the ways I can film and do the project.

I went a different route and chose to approach the plot differently.

I was thinking due to me filming the beginning of a film. I would show the perfect life and I want to approach this as a perfect girl that isn’t really perfect. The protagonist will be seen as a girl struggling with mental health and she can’t be seen the messing up she has to hide it. 

   this will be shown as a girl struggling and feels like she’s going crazy even in such a perfect life the viewer will interpret the feeling by seeing the girls point of view. 

I have decided. that I will be the protagonist,  tomorrow I will go more. i’m depth on my character.

Plot research

 At now, I'm considering writing a dystopian-themed thriller. 

       I recently looked into those kinds of movies and found them to be interesting. I'm considering making a movie about a civilization that appears ideal but is actually quite flawed. Although though this sounds incredibly challenging, I believe I can handle it. I've started watching a movie called "don't Worry Darling" in particular. I was most influenced by this movie. I've started researching what I can accomplish and how I can add a special touch. I'll be the one performing in order to appear in the eyes of a child. 

Movies I have been looking into is "don't worry darling" , "A good marriage" and "white noise". Looking into these films will inspire me to create ideas of my own to create my film. After this, I will start looking into what characters how many and how to present them.

Genre Research

   Today I will be choosing my genre. I will be doing this by researching my top 3 genres. When I come to a conclusion of which genre I choose, I will go ahead and later on I will be able to come up with ideas.

Drama-

Comedy-

Dramatic performance having a light or humorous tone that depicts amusing incidents and in which the characters ultimately triumph over adversity.  Movies such as Lost city, pitch perfect and Senior year

Teen- 

film genre targeted at teenagers, preteens, or young adults by the plot being based on their special interests, such as coming of age, attempting to fit in, bullying, peer pressure, first love, teen rebellion, conflict with parents, and teen angst or alienation. Movies such as clueless, mean girls or DUFF. 

After all this research, I've decided to do a thriller/mystery. I really liked all of these genres although the drama genre started giving me ideas that were in the thriller/mystery category.

The beginning

     Hello, My name is Ivana. Today will be the beginning to my portfolio project. When I found out about this project I was very excited and my head was filled with ideas. To execute my plan, I've decided I must organize my thought process and identify the narrative.

  I started looking at every genre, and I've narrowed it to three. I've decided to go with drama, comedy, or teen. All of these genres truly fascinate me, so I've started researching them thoroughly in order to decide which one I want to work on and to make plans on how to carry them out. 

      I will begin developing ideas and concepts for my project after deciding on the genre. Once I've finished detailing all of my ideas, I'll talk to my peers about them, and they'll help me decide which one to carry out. I'm also curious about my ability and resources to produce the video. I will also start looking to see if I need other people in the video and what settings to choose.

Once I've figured all of this out, I'll have a clear vision of the movie. and I'll be able to start bigger projects like the storyboard or writing the script.

Music marketing post #2

 A music marketing project was assigned in my media studies course. In the project, I construct a marketing strategy for a brand-new musical artist with the help of 3 other students and a provided song. We demonstrate our marketing strategy for the artwork. Leon Bridges' "coming home" was the song that was provided. Leon Bridges, the artist, is a soul musician, therefore we began by learning about other soul musicians' marketing techniques. Each of us participated in the research in a different way. Researching Leon Bridges and Adele's marketing strategies for the intended audience was my responsibility. 

      To compile the knowledge we learned from our research and use it to develop our own music artist marketing. We did a good job of settling on the campaign's precise details. As an illustration, consider the age range we've chosen and the campaign's marketing strategy. Some of the marketing tactics were my ideas. One is that since millennials are our target demographic and they tend to be frugal with their money, we should limit the amount of merchandise we advertise to them. They won't buy t-shirts or posters, for example. 

The trouble began when figuring out the conclusion of the music video due to all of us having different ideas. When we did one to a conclusion usually it would split into two and two because two of us blended our ideas and thought it worked perfectly meanwhile the others did the same. We did end up settling on a story line about a girl receiving letters from her lover and him coming home. The part of the coming is what led us to so many ideas and ways we could show that. I am glad that we figured out what to do and I like our end result.  

At the end, we finished our presentation and I think it went pretty well. When we presented I was really nervous but I think it went well and I liked the critiques given. I feel it is going to help me improve later on.

        In the project overall I learned about the process of making a brand and all the little aspects of the making such as the way you market your artist. The filming and the idea making I think is going to prepare me for the Cambridge portfolio project. In the portfolio project I have to film and create a 2 minute video and filming the video and reading the critiques, I think is going to prepare me and know what to avoid doing.
